I have been fortunate to experience field work in The Galapagos' Islands during the Summer of 2021 and 2023. The experience observing wildlife and nature in the Islands where the theory of evolution was created was a fulfillment of a dream I have had since my earliest memories. I was blessed that I was part of a group who where the first eco-tourists back after an 18 month hiatus due to covid, and it is an experience and set of wonderful memories that I will never forget!
The Galapagos Sealions are always very playful. However, there are strict rules on touching and interacting with the animals in the Galapagos. Even when the sea lions swim to the bottom and present a stone to you to release so they can collect it, you can't accept. They are truly a fun animal to swim with.
There are many species of Shark in the Galapagos. Fortunately I had the experience of seeing Galapagos, White-Tip and Black- Tip Reef sharks. The video shows my encounter with the White-Tip Reef Shark off North Seymour Island
The camouflage of the Diamond Stingray makes them very difficult to spot. Fortunately I managed to see one when diving off Santa Fe Island
Marine Iguana(Amblyrhynchus cristatus) One of the most well known inhabitants of the Galapagos Islands. The world's only seafaring lizard, they make regualr dives into the cool Galapagos seas to feast on algae.
Galapagos Waved Albatross(Phoebastria irrorata) The largest bird in Galapagos, these magnificent long-distance fliers nest only on the island of Espanola.
Galapagos Land Iguana(Conolophus subcristatus). The golden dragons of Galapagos, these magnificent lizards live across the scrublands of most of the central and western islands. While not as famous as their marine cousins, the land iguanas of Galapagos are just as special.
